Event Details

Inspired by the past Exhibition at the British Library “Paddington The story of a Bear” immerse yourself in the ancient textiles embroidery of the Peruvian Highlands. Embroidering your very own hat to wear with pride “I made this”.

Create beautiful flower designs and enjoy an introduction to Peruvian Andean embroidery, exploring the art and rich heritage of hand stitching in the Andes. This class is a window through which you will have an indigenous insight into the art of Peruvian textiles, their design, formation and coloration.

The class is taught by Bella Lane , orginally from Iquitos Peru, Master Peruvian embroiderer, trained at the Royal School of Needlework and a world embroidery stitch collector.  We are very honoured to have Bella as a guest teacher at Fabrications!

On completion of the class participants will confidently be able to:

– Understand how to work technically this beautiful design step by step

– Explore a range of hand embroidery stitches and how to work the thread neatly

– Have the opportunity to study some indigenous costumes of Peru

– Participants can apply the same technique to your own projects

– Students will have picked up some ‘insider’ tips and tricks from a master craft person

 

The class includes a special embroidery kit with: Natural baby lamb’s wool hand made felt hat (2 royal pink and 1 royal blue. First come first served to pick your hat colour), authentic Peruvian embroidery threads ( Choose your own colours on the day) needles and instruction sheets.

LEVEL: All levels are welcome

Class Size: Bella is only offering the opportunity of this class to 3 students! so we have needed to increase our usual prices to cover her time, the hat and preperation of the kits .
