Our Beginners Crochet classes have been developed to meet the needs of those wishing to take the first steps into the world of crochet. These classes will not only introduce the participants to the fundamentals of crochet but also to practical advice on yarns, hooks and pattern reading.

Join Aikeda Watson who will guide you with practical help and tips, give observations and feedback with your learning. “Knitting and Crochet have always been a part of my world. This class is a natural follow on to our first “Beginners Crochet”  It’s also a good class for those that already know the basic stitches but perhaps havn’t yet ventured into making items using a pattern. During the day, Aikeda will guide you through 2 small projects which use a number of different techniques to help you build your confidence and realise the potential of crochet!

In the morning:

– Introduction to ‘Filet’ (a type of crochet characterised by patterns of empty and filled squares)

– Work in the round

– Follow a pattern and symbol chart

– Use chain, slip stitch, double & treble crochet

– Create a drawstring cord

– Slip stitch the bottom edge together to form your pouch.

Learning Project: Love heart drawstring pouch

In the afternoon:

— Work in the round

– Follow a pattern and symbol chart

– Use chain, slip stitch, half treble, picot

– Shape through decreasing

– Create a 3D item
