Knit your own cowl (Design #2 ‘Backgammon’ – In Person or Online)

October 27 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

At this time, we thought we would offer some knitting classes that not only introduce you to some new knitting skills or give you the opportunity to hone your existing skills but also provide a chance to meet (safely at a distance) other crafters. Places are limited for this reason and take part in person or online via ‘Zoom’ (logging on details will be sent out to you)

This class is part of a series of knitting classes on Thursday evenings in November and December. Join 1 or a series! A discount is offered when you book the series.

To make the most of this session, we recommend that you have some basic knitting skills such as knowing how to cast on, knit & purl stitch and how to cast off. If you have attended our beginners knitting class or equivalent you will be fine!

The class is taught by Lola Johnson. Lola is the dyer and designer behind Third Vault Yarns. With years of experience from learning to knit at a young age, she has taken that experience into designing patterns using a wide range of techniques – which she delights in sharing and helping others to build their skills with fun and different patterns. Designs for Lola’s classes will draw inspiration from her books “Board Game Knits”

On completion of the class, participants will confidently be able to:

– Understand how to knit in the round using circular needles.

– Learn how to create a ‘stretchy’ cast on and bind off.

– Explore colour work and stranded ‘Intarsia’ knitting.

– Read colour work charts.

– Follow a pattern

– Make your own version of Lola’s Backgammon cowl

Class Size: Now reduced to 4 participants to ensure social distancing (In person) and 4 participants (online) to ensure a qualitative learning experience.

You will need: 1 x 5mm ( 60cm length) circular needles , 100g in 2 colours of compatible yarn. We recommend ‘Croft’ by West Yorkshire Spinners, which we sell at Fabrications and offer a 10% discount for class attendees. for online participants we can post our your yarn and needles before the class.
