Great London Yarn Crawl & “Trunk Show & Tell” with Erika Knight
September 7 @ 9:30 am - 5:30 pm
For all the fans of “The Great London Yarn Crawl” and new crawlers, tickets for this year’s week-long DIY edition (1st – 8th September) of the Great London Yarn Crawl have already gone on sale.
Join our special guest Erika Knight to celebrate GLYC 2019 at Fabrications on Saturday 8th September with her “Trunk Show” of latest designs & classics, sample garments and sustainable fibre collection including “Studio Linen” (recycled linen fibre) , “Wool Local” (British wool – all made within 50 miles) and “Wild Wool” (nettle fibre). Erika will also be hosting a special talk and Knit & Natter at Fabrications on the Friday evening before.
Erika’s ‘Trunk show and tell’ is made of new designs and old favourites with an insight into the creative process and how simple details and finishing techniques can create sophisticated and timeless garments. Understand the fibres that you knit with and the characteristics of each of the natural and sustainable yarns in the erika knight collection.
On Saturday 8th September, Fabrications has also teamed up with our neighbours ‘Knit with Attitude’ and ‘Wild & Woolly’ to offer “East London Yarn Triangle Guided Tours”. The Guided Tours are exclusively available to Great London Yarn Crawl Ticket Holders.
Guided tours will include an hour at each of Hackney’s incredible yarn stores: Fabrications, Knit with Attitude and Wild and Woolly. You will be part of a group of ten knitters and crocheters with 2 local knitter guides, well versed in the stories and hidden haunts of this richly historic part of London. All three shops will be offering breakfast and running special discounts offers for yarn crawlers. The three tours are each named after one of our favourite historical Hackney heroines. Expect to hear more about them en route!
Each tour will begin at each individual ELYT shop which will provide breakfast for everyone in the group and a chance for you to all get to know each other. You will have about an hour in each shop and walking between shops will be at a leisurely pace to allow for sight-seeing, local-history telling, photo-taking and treat-buying. Lunch stops have been worked into each tour. There will be an optional fourth stop at Tribe Yarns in Richmond for any knitters wanting to continue by train to Richmond to visit Tribe Yarns.
We are very much looking forward to Meeting and Greeting you at Fabrications! We will also be making our ‘Imaginerium’ studio space downstairs available for afternoon tea, knitting, crocheting & socialising!
