* AFTERNOON CLASS* Peg Loom Weaving with Sue Russell

Date: 12 May 2013 14:30 to 17:00
Details:

Following her morning session 'Learn how to spin your own designer yarns' Sue Russell's afternoon session is a great way of using your own yarns through weaving. Sue makes 'peg looms' (in a variety of widths and on sale in the Fabrications shop ) which are a brilliantly low tech way of weaving as they involve minimal threading up. They are also a great way of using scraps as you can weave varying length of materials and yarns through the pegs and pack down to create a very dense and durable type woven fabric - ideal for rugs, throws and seat cushions.

Following the class, participants will confidently be able to:

- Understand the principles of using a 'peg loom' including how to thread up, weave on it and finish the ends to avoid unravelling!
- Use a variety of scrap materials and yarns to make a new improved upcycled fabric
- Create your own yarns for weaving, such as cutting continous strips from old plastic bags or t-shirts
- Explore your intuitive creativity through design, colour and texture
- Make a beautiful and functional rug or furnishing textile in a short space of time!

TIME: 2.30 - 5pm

PRICE:
£30 / £25 conc. Includes all materials, use of equipment and refreshments OR £50 / £45 when you book for the whole day (Morning: Spinning - Lunch Break - Afternoon: Weaving)
