Craftivism - Don't Blow It!

Date: 24 June 2012
Details:

Craftivism combines activism and craft and provides a creative outlet for people to express their thoughts and concerns on social injustices in a non threatening, thought-provoking way, whilst at the same time 'Making Change' one stitch at a time through your actions!

The Craftivist Collective are encouraging you to take up Craftivism as a your summer project in 2012 and take on our 'Don't Blow It' project. Run by our Founder Sarah Corbett you will learn the classic skill of embroidery whilst also learning how to influence change-makers in the UK. You will create a handkerchief for the influential person of your choice (this might be a politician, banker, teacher, journalist, judge or someone else) and you will receive support on what to write on your handkerchief and how to get in touch with that person. Craftivist Sarah Corbett will also tell you more about the history of craftivism and the benefits it gives both makers and viewers/receivers.
