Victoriana Crazy Patchwork (and make up a make-up / clutch bag!)

Date: 3 March 2018 11:00 to 17:00
Join Jill Bulgan in a creative patchwork class.  Drawing inspiration from the Victorian era learn the art of  'Crazy Patchwork' which the Victorian's developped as a means of using up scraps and offcuts to create lushious new cloths.  Jill will introduce you to their techniques but with a modern twist! Rather than embroidering by hand you will assemble your creative cloth using a sewing machine and explore the range of decorative stitches on the machine. Once you have your base cloth, add additional layers and decoration by hand, then transform into a lined make up / clutch bag with a zip.
This is an ideal follow on class to our beginners sewing class ’Provisional Driving’ introduction to using a sewing machine class.
All levels are welcome in this class (you will go straight into the making process!)

On completion of this class, participants will confidently be able to:

- Create a 'crazy patchwork' cloth using the sewing machine

- Develop your awareness and creativity in working with colour and texture

- Explore embellishing using machine and hand stitches

- make a 3d functional object

- Add a zip and lining in a few simple steps!

- Realise your creative ideas into a personalised zipped make-up bag

TIME: 11am - 5pm

PRICE: £60

All materials provided - there will be a fun selection of fabric offcuts, lace and other fancy bits n pieces to work with!
