Beginners Garment Making - make a Tilly & the Buttons 'Marigold' Jumpsuit or trousers

This workshop will introduce you to garment making and working with a ready made pattern. From how to cut out your pattern to your size, tips on assembling and getting a good finish using a domestic sewing machine and build your confidence and enthusiasm for making your own clothes! Barley will guide you through the process of making a stylish 'Marigold' jumpsuit or trousers from a 'Tilly & the Buttons' pattern. (There is a choice of 2 designs)

As the class goes straight into the making process it is advisable that you know how to set up a machine and understand how to use different stitch functions but we welcome those new to making clothes as well as more expoerienced sewers who'd like to have a go at making this stylish garment!

On completion of this class participants will confidently be able to:

- Cut a simple garment pattern

- Add 'Darts' & 'Pleats' to create shaping

- Create a 'Slash' pocket

- Assemble the fabric pieces on the machine and best approach

- Sew an elasticated waiste

- Add an invisible zip (jumpsuit)

- Make many other versions of Tilly & the Buttons 'Marigold' design with your pattern.


LEVEL: Confident Beginner

TIME: 11am - 5pm

PRICE: £65 / £60  (Includes 'Tilly & the Buttons' Coco pattern worth £12.50)

YOU WILL NEED: To bring your own light to medium weight drapey fabric. The trousers can also be made in a lightweight low stretch jersey . We now sell a selection of good quality fabrics suitable for the 'Marigold' design in Fabrications shop

Trousers: 1.5m - 1.7m (150cm wide) Depending on your size
1.8m - 1.9m (115cm wide)

Jumpsuit: 1.9m - 2.1m (150cm wide)
2.3 - 3.2m (115cm wide)
