“The Magic & the Mysteries of the Peruvian Andes” illustrated talk

John Lane OBE invites you to join him on a unique journey to the longest mountain range in the world, based on his experience of working, living and travelling extensively in Peru for the past two decades. The evening will start with a colourfully illustrated talk of an hour or so, followed by open forum with wine and snacks. John will be accompanied by his Peruvian collaborators and mentors, Jose Navarro from the central highlands of Andahuaylas and Bella Lane from the Amazon rain forest, Iquitos.
John Lane joined the Royal Navy aged 16 and stayed for the next 35 years. He saw service at sea worldwide in frigates and destroyers, in the Commando Carrier HMS ALBION and in HM Yacht BRITANNIA. He served abroad in Libya, Malta, Canada, Oman and Gibraltar, with operational service in the Malayan Emergency, Indonesian Confrontation, the end of the Dhofar War, and the First Gulf War. On leaving the Navy he undertook humanitarian disaster response assignments with the Red Cross and other organisations in the Balkans War, Armenian earthquake, Rwandan genocide, Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Bangladesh, Tanzania, and the SE Asia earthquake in North West Frontier Province. He was Head of Mission for the Halo Trust in Afghanistan.
