Slow-Stitching Spa Evening with Networking + Guest Speakers
28th February 2019 @ 6:30 am - 9:30 pm
Offset Warehouse and Fabrications are delighted to welcome you to participate in an evening of mindful stitching and organic skincare, conversations on sustainability and networking. As ethical businesses, we promote slowing down, having space to reflect and consciousness in our choices. So on February 28th, we are collaborating with like-minded local businesses to bring you an after-work workshop that combines mindful sewing, sustainable textiles, organic skincare and the pertinent issues surrounding them. Participate in the full event, or just drop in for the networking with guest speakers.
What to expect:
Sewing workshop and networking with guest speakers (limited to 8 participants).
Downstairs, starting at 6.30pm sharp, we’ll welcome workshop attendees to make a combination of face cloths, head wraps and cleansing pads using organic cotton towelling, which you can also choose to monogram. In this intimate setting, you’ll be led in both hand and machine embroidery to embellish your eco-makes while being able to chat and relax.
This sewing workshop is aimed at everyone – you don’t need to have sewn before. The ticket price of £39 includes all materials, tuition (inc. hemming chunky fabric, machine embroidery and hand embroidery techniques) plus drinks and nibbles. You’ll also be able to participate in the guest speaker presentations and networking upstairs if you choose.
Networking with guest speakers (limited capacity).
Upstairs from 7pm, the shop will be open for a networking evening. The networking event is included in the full workshop price, but to attend the networking and presentations only, we’re offering £5 tickets redeemable against Offset Warehouse fabric on the evening.
We’ll have nibbles and drinks to fuel your discussions, and you can peruse and purchase skincare products from 34.4, Kindred & Wild, fabrics from Offset Warehouse, haberdashery and eco gifts from Fabrications.
34.4 are a Community Interest Company who donate 3.44% of all their profits to the Natural Beekeeping Trust, which promotes bee awareness. Elka will be presenting her products, but most notably will inspire you with her ethos; As a skincare brand founder, she’ll speak about paying attention to nature, and to your body – how acknowledging your own physical and mental well-being is a way into following a path to happiness and true success. “Skin is the largest organ of your body. How does your mind affect it?”
Kindred + Wild
Kindred + Wild produce natural, organic products for everyday ritualistic use, born out of Mugdha Sapte’s own experience with skin issues. Her research of plants and inspiration for products is rooted in the concepts of herbal medicine, Ayurveda, history + folklore, yet, Mugdha’s background is one in fashion, interiors and product styling. The segway to her organic home + body products was found via experiments with botanical dyeing + foraging. Mugdha will speak of her journey + transition, the importance of holistic practice and why she creates the products in the way that she does.
